Theme Parks

There was an old lady who lived in a shoe . . you know the rest. But did you know the shoe was only one small room? Learn this and more as we travel to the remains of Bensons Animal Park.

Ninety percent of Lincoln park has been burnt to the ground. The coaster still stands to remind visitors of the good old days. We didn't feel like climbing up on the wooden coaster, and discourage others from trying!

A theme park based on the bible is a good investment, right? Apparently not, as one sits abandoned on top of a hill in Waterbury, CT. A giant cross looks over the highway, while a mini Bethlehem sits on the hill beneath it. The property is now owned by nuns, who didn't seem to mind the tourists making the pilgrimage to their version of the Holy Land.

From 1899 until 1955 the Livermore Falls Pulp Mill provided ground pulp for use in making paper. Nearby was the Pumpkin Seed Bridge, built in 1885 by a CT company. Both are now in ruins.

This old factory was renovated into a self storage place. The old elevator still goes up to the unrenovated top floor.

Deer Island was once home to Fort Dawes. It was also once home to a prison, poor house and indians. Everything has been leveled to built a large wastewater treatment plant. No remains of the Fort can be seen.
